If you’re reading this I’m probably dead … tired. It’s late, and I’ve spent too much time on this site today. What started with a tool my study group could use on our computers has morphed into this site so’s I can share what I’m doing more easily. But why am I sharing?
It’s been a while since I’ve been in school. The last time I was in school I struggled through without really learning how to learn. This first semester was all about that, and I think I’m figuring it out. I’m not really good at it yet, but I’m better than I’ve ever been … so that’s a bonus. What I’m figuring out is that I’m an auditory learner, but I can’t do without seeing the things as well. Getting the information in different formats has helped me improve my understanding and retention of the information being taught. I have to admit, applying the lessons learned with Module 6 & 7 from “Intro to Psychology” didn’t hurt either!
Matt, why aren’t you teaching those 2 modules first? Just sayin’.
I’ve had plenty of help from TA’s and Profs in understanding what I’m doing right but also (and this has been the most helpful) what I’m not doing right. This journey is a tough one, as a recovering perfectionist, because it’s hard to not take things personally when you have a personal expectation of perfection. My goal is to work on accepting that, provided I’m putting in the effort, the marks are secondary to the method.
I hope my method works, and I also hope that it can help any of you that take time to check it out.
